We have an episcopal model of leadership. For us, this means that the lead pastor is entrusted with the authority to lead the church, set its direction and delegate the work.
An important part of this task is to build a strong team. We seek to find, develop and make room for skilled and capable leaders who can contribute their experience, judgement and gifts. Leadership is collaborative, with clearly shared responsibilities and tasks so that more people can help sustain and develop the church.
With significant authority comes significant responsibility. Leadership is built on trust and requires listening, openness to correction and accountability for decisions. That is why we have ongoing supervision, with an external supervisor who both supports and challenges the pastors and local leadership.
Supervisor · pastor at Åbenkirke Odense
We believe healthy leadership needs trust, dialogue and accountability. As part of the Apostolic Church Denmark, our pastors and leaders share a committed relationship with other churches.
Our supervisor is Niels-Peter Hedegaard. He is an external conversation partner who can support and challenge our leaders on faith, collaboration and church development. His role also includes oversight and authority to correct both pastors and leaders.
The framework is the network’s shared declaration covering ministry, theology, mission and sharing resources. Supervision helps us take responsibility for people and for the work entrusted to us.
